A local brewery has opened their new taproom to the public.

Bollington Brewing Company, now of Brook Mill, Parker Street, Macclesfield, has officially opened their new taproom.

The new taproom, simple called the Bollington Brewing Company Taproom, contains an indoor beer garden, and outdoor beer garden, and the main taproom hall itself.

All three seating areas, are just metres away from where Bollington Brewing Company beers are made.

More old timey signage is still to be done in the outdoor beer garden. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

It now the sixth venue and bar operated by the Bollington Brewing Company, after The Park Tavern in Macclesfield, The Vale Inn in Bollington, The Cask Tavern in Poynton, The Fountain in Macclesfield and The Foundry in Congleton.

The opening of the taproom as a venue comes a few weeks after their move from Bollington, to Brook Mill.

Macclesfield Nub News went to visit the new venue to find out more.

"It feels fantastic to open the Bollington Brewing Company Taproom, it has been really exciting to show off what we have been working towards", said Tim Jones commercial support manager for Bollington Brewing Company.

"It is a fantastic space, and a great way to try our beers in a unique setting.

"The new venue can seat 100 people. And is open four days a week.

"We are open Thursday and Friday 4 to 11pm, Saturday 12pm to 11pm, and Sunday 12pm to 8pm."

The brewery, which celebrated their 15th anniversary last year, hopes their new home can future-proof them for the next 15.

Brewery tours can now also be booked, and you will be able to hire the venue. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

But looking back has also been a huge part of the new venue. From a mural of their White Nancy logo representing their Bollington origins, to an old-timey sign in keeping with the building's mill history.

And indeed, this theme continues on the inside too.

"When we started renovating, we wanted to find more about the history," added Tim.

"There was original glazed bricks hidden behind dry wall, which we were very excited to find, some of them had been discoloured because of the bread ovens which adds to the character.

Bollington Brewing Company already has venues that are part of The CAMRA Good Beer Guide, and there are hopes that their latest one could join the 2026 Guide. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

"We have also brought back the original bar from The Cask Tavern, Poynton, which shows how far we've come.

"We stopped using it in 2013 when we bought the pub, and gave the bar to a neighbouring business.

"We held an open day event, and it just so happened that the lady we lent it to, offered to give it us back to complete our new bar.

"We love it, and think the bar is in keeping with the age of the building.

"We wanted to keep the industrial feel of what was there and take it back to what it used to be.

"We have also tried to soften it with plants a little bit, especially as we get lots of families too."

Furthermore, old brewing equipment has also found new meaning, as a retired underback, which is a piece of kit that takes the sugared water (wurt) into the chamber where the hops are added, has been repurposed into a planter for the beer garden.

A whopping 12 beers are on the keg line, the majority being UK-based beers, including one or two Bollington Brewing Company brews.

There is also six casks, predominantly comprised of the classic Bollington Brewing Company beers, but will also be joined by guest cask specials from time to time. (Currently Old Rosie cider.)

"The Bollington Brewing Company Taproom has a full bar like you would find at any other Bollington Brewing Company venue," explained Tim.

'But this bar will concentrate more on small independent breweries that you can't necessarily find everywhere else.

"There will also be exclusive previews of beer we have brewed here, at Brook Mill.

"We do not just serve craft beer. We have local spirits like whisky from Poynton, Salford Rum, Manchester Gin and Didsbury Gin.

"Our in-house coffee, Warp and Weft, roasted at The Fountain is also served.

"This venue is the most geographically close to The Fountain [of Sunderland Street], so the two venues in particular will work in tandem together."

Old timey signs to the loos and a lampshade resembling a hop, are also commendable bits of attention to detail in the new venue.

As well as pints and half-pints to enjoy at the venue, you can also buy bottles to take home. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

In the near future, they hope to host functions here in 2025.

And in the short-term future, their first street food vendor will cook at the venue, with curry on next weekend.

Additionally, later this year, the brewery has multiple collaborations to announce, which would not have been possible in their old home.

"Thank you to everyone that has stuck with us over this being ready, and coming to us since we opened up," concluded Tim.

The taproom even has their own dedicated social media platform, to further distinguish it as not just the new home of their brewery, but also a venue.

Congratulations, Bollington Brewing Company! (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)
