Macclesfield business announces ‘funeral’ with Halloween send-off

A Macclesfield hotel and restaurant has come up for sale, and will close within weeks.

The Chestergate Hotel, of Chestergate's west side, opened last year.

Before that, the operators of the business called it Piccante which opened on Thursday December 8 2022.

This July, the business went up for sale. And this week, The Chestergate Hotel confirmed their closure.

"We are closing down permanently on November 2," they said on social media.

"Join us on October 31 for a fantastic farewell."

The closing celebration has been announced as a 'funeral', with the big send-off being announced on Halloween.

The Chestergate Hotel, located inside the iconic Charles Roe House, who was a former Macclesfield industrialised and Mayor, is up for sale as a business with Hilton Smythe Business Sales.

The property firm described the listing as "highly acclaimed."

£60,000 is sought for the sale.

The property company listed event hosting, cooking classes and seasonal menus as growth opportunities for a suitor.

Hilton Smythe went onto add: "Conveniently located in the heart of Macclesfield, The Chestergate Hotel is easily accessible and the perfect spot for locals and visitors alike.

"The Chestergate Hotel is situated in a prominent corner building, providing a distinctive presence in the area.

"The ground floor of the hotel features a stylish cocktail bar, designed to offer a relaxing and inviting atmosphere for guest.

"The second floor, you will find the restaurant, which offers a diverse menu and comfortable dining experience.

"Ample seating to accommodate up to 75 guests between the first and second floor.

"The third floor of The Chestergate Hotel is dedicated to the living accommodation. This area provides guests with well-appointed rooms designed for comfort and convenience.

"This opportunity is being sold on a Leasehold basis with 4.5 years remaining on a 5 year lease.

"The current rent is £4,000 per month.

"We are advised the Landlord is willing to negotiate a lower monthly lease rate.

"Full details can be discussed upon further negotiation.

"The business is run and managed by our client with the help of 2 members of staff.

"This business generated a turnover of £393,000. Full financials can be made available upon further request."

Once again, the business is up for sale for £60,000.
