Bollington: Local 'Bake Off' hero Dan Hunter launches new website where you can order bakes to your door
A Bollington man who rose to prominence on last year's The Great British Bake Off has launched a new website.
Dan Hunter, (43), has launched an online shop where you can order his bakes.
"I've had an absolutely incredible time since Bake Off," he said.
"I did think things would slow down a little quicker, but it only has just now.
"I have been involved in loads of Food Festivals, my next one is this month at Arley Hall, in Northwich.
"I have done around ten cake commissions, including my first-ever wedding cake. [Infact, Nub News was his first-ever commission back in January].
"I have teamed up in Jinny Chievers, who does classes at Adlington Hall, to deliver classes in the community. And these can be booked on my new website.
"Teaching has been great fun. I will be teaching my first bread class in November, which is actually sold out.
"I also did a demonstration at Arighi Bianchi for their summer party. I have some more events coming up at Arighi Bianchi around October time."
Dan's new website features a variety of sweet treats you can order to your door.
"It is batch baking, made to order. Up to three days delivery, you can pay for a faster delivery too," he explained.
"It is free delivery for the SK10/SK11 area.
"I have also spoke to Russ from ELOV, he is going to do my local deliveries for me so I can do the same if I can. A lady in Stockport has got in touch to offer the same sustainable delivery as well.
"You can order cakes, brownies and cookies.
"I'm also going to introduce flavoured cupcakes, some patisserie, and also looking at designing some chocolates as well.
"The main reason why I wanted to launch an online shop, is to use it as my own creative outlet.
"I've spent a lot of time doing requests for other people, so I am now going to experiment with a few things and build my own brand."
"I want to use my new website share my recipes and build a baking community.
"Locally would be really, really good. Hence with the baking classes and promoting that.
"I will be getting into recipe writing. I've just posted my first recipe for of chocolate orange torte. I've really enjoyed recipe writing.
"Hopefully, my online shop bakes will be a bit different to what you can see on the high street.
"Commissions can still be done by sending me a message."
Dan has 47,500 followers on Instagram, but wants to generate more business locally.
"Thank you to everyone who has supported me since Bake Off has finished," he revealed.
"Local support still really nice, It has been great all around Macclesfield.
"I will aim to start getting my bakes stocked back in Knowles Green Creative Tasting in Bollington again soon.
"I also donate a big cake every so often to a voluntary run coffee shop in Adlington."
"I hope I can build my brand, people will keep supporting me, and build my little business."
And after the hubbub of watch parties and collaborating with local businesses this time last year, as his Bake Off episodes aired, Dan is looking forward to watching the Channel 4 show again as a viewer when it starts later this month.
"I am actually going to the National Television Awards soon with [fellow finalists] Matty and Josh," he shared.
"The Great British Bake Off is nominated for Best Talent Show. We are up against Strictly though so I'm not sure about winning!
"There will also be a full contestants reunion in Birmingham before Christmas like last year.
"It will be nice to meet everyone again."
