Bollington firefighters travel 20 miles to rescue on-the-run cows from gardens
This hilarious photo shows the moment when a herd of nine young cows were caught grazing in residential front gardens after escaping from a farmer's field.
The black and white cows, believed to be holsteins, were pictured standing awkwardly in front of two properties in Middlewich, Cheshire, on the evening Monday March 14.
The rescue mission required the help of three fire crews, including Bollington firefighters, who were available at the time.
Fire crews from the local areas of Middlewich, Bollington and Lymm and were called out to "moove" the rowdy cows back to their original pasture.
And a spokesperson later confirmed that after one cow had been retrieved from a nearby canal, the bovine rescue mission had taken place successfully.
They said: "Nine young cows managed to escape in Middlewich this evening, one of which had to be recovered from the nearby canal.
"Fire crews from Lymm, Middlewich and Bollington moo-ved them to a secure area until we could get them transported to safety."
Bollington Fire Station is 20 miles from Middlewich, and is located on Albert Road.
The local cow rescuers have been contacted for comment.
