A Bollington pensioner has raised a stunning amount of money for charity.

Midge Mayers, 79, has raised £250 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

She did this by getting her hair shaved off, on Friday April 5.

Macclesfield Nub News went to meet Midge and photograph the big day.

"I had cancer last year and Macmillan were very good to me, so I chose to fundraise for them," said Midge.

"I've had long COVID for two years, so I chose to brave the shave as it wasn't something that took up any energy for me.

"This was my first-ever charity shave."

Cut Throat Barbers, of Crossfield Road, Bollington, did Midge's trim.

They did not charge Midge for the shave, out of respect for her fundraising efforts.

"I'd like to thank Cut Throat who have done a great job, and are great fun. I would also like to thank all the people who have supported me," concluded Midge.

"I have always been well supported no matter what I have done, but I am really pleased with the outcome of us."

If you still wish to donate, you can email Midge at [email protected] or head to this link.
