A power cut has left hundreds of Macclesfield homes without electricity.

Electricity North West has confirmed that 208 properties in the SK10 and SK11 postcodes are currently without power.

This follows an unexpected power cut on Friday morning, February 14.

The network operator's crews are on-site working to resolve the issue now, with power expected to be restored by 2.33pm.

Electricity North West's website states: "This power cut has been caused by an unexpected incident on the high voltage cable that provides electricity to your home or business.

"We didn't know before your electricity went off that this was going to happen but now we know, rest assured we will get your power back on safely and as quickly as possible.

"Please be aware that all our timescales are estimated based on previous experience and may change if new information becomes available while our engineers are fixing the issue.

"With high voltage power cuts, we're often able to get many of the homes involved back on before our estimated time of restoration."

Businesses have been impacted by the power cut, including Cinemac who have had to cancel two of their screenings.

"Due to intermittent power cuts, we've had to cancel both performances of Dog Man today!" read a post on the cinema's Facebook page.

"Bridget Jones will go ahead as planned!

"Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause!"

The latest information can be found on the Electricity North West website.
