Vandalism has led to a car park ditching cash payments.

Cheshire East Council has announced changes to payment methods at Shirleys car park in Prestbury.

Motorists will now only be able to pay via the RingGo app.

The council say this decision has been made following 'repeated incidents of vandalism' to the payment machines, which has led to costly replacements and repairs.

As such, visitors will not be able to pay by cash or card using the pay and display machine.

Payment will be via the RingGo mobile phone app only.

Those who are not able to use the RingGo app can still use RingGo by calling 020 3046 0010 and making payment that way.

They can also use a text message to park by texting 81025.

Signs providing information about the changes are on display at the car park.
