Chance to get involved in Macclesfield's 1261 Festival

Businesses are invited to get involved in one of the biggest events of the summer.
The 1261 Festival takes place this August, with a parade, live music, theatre, street food and more planned.
Named after Macclesfield's charter year, it is described as a 'key cultural event' aimed at celebrating the town's creativity and communities.
Ahead of the festivities, Macclesfield Town Council are offering a 'community funding stream' to help local businesses and residents take part.
"As part of the 1261 Festival celebrations, the town council are offering grants of up to £250 to help local groups, shops, cafés, bars, and those special 'experience' businesses get involved," said town clerk, Laura Smith.
"Whether it's an event, display, or activity that brings the spirit of the community to life, we'd love to support your ideas.
"Let's make this a festival to remember, together!"
The grants can be used to support a wide variety of projects, such as hosting live music performances in bars, cafes or public spaces.
Money can also be spent on costumes, props or stage designs, art displays and installations, and any other 'innovative and engaging' activities that contribute to the festival atmosphere.
These activities should be free to access but revenue can still be obtained in other ways, such as selling food and drink.
To apply, download and complete the form here before returning it to [email protected] by no later than 9am on Friday, June 6.
