A chart-topping act has been confirmed as the first headliner of Macclesfield's biggest original music festival.
The Boo Radleys will take to the Factory Carpets & Beds Stage at next year's Macclesfield in May.
It marks the first time that the alternative rock band, who topped the UK album charts in 1995 with Wake Up!, will perform in Treacle Town.
An organiser for the event said: "Now, fans of the band that established both cult status as indefinable, shoegaze adventurers and celebrity profiles as chart-riding pop stars, have the chance to relive old memories as well as experience new tracks live."
The Boo Radleys initially formed in 1988 and went on to develop a reputation for adventurous genre-indistinct songwriting.
Their big breakthrough came in 1992 when Giant Steps was named by NME readers as the album of the year.
Three years later, they achieved their first top ten single with Wake Up Boo! From the aforementioned chart-topping album.
In 2021 the band reunited, without guitarist Martin Carr, after more than two decades apart.
They are the first of two headliners to be announced for next year's Macclesfield in May, which takes place on Saturday, May 23, and is free to enter.
