Cheshire East permit extra seating for Macclesfield FC derby

By Alex Greensmith 26th Aug 2021

This weekend will see the biggest attendance for a football game in Macclesfield for almost half-a-decade.

Macclesfield FC will take on Congleton Town on Monday.

Hosting our rivals who will make the short eight-mile trip is set to be a heated clash.

To add fuel to the fire, both sides are early favourites for promotion.

Both sides have had unbeaten starts, with Macc 4th and The Bears 1st.

The club record attendance for Macclesfield FC is due to our borough council allowing an increased capacity to help our area's two clubs.

Our town's new club said in a statement: "We are delighted to announce that more tickets have been released for Monday's Bank Holiday Fixture against Congleton Town.

"Please note that all remaining tickets are standing only and must be bought online – no tickets will be sold on the day."

The Silkmen's Director of Football Robbie Savage has been singing the praises of Macc fans all week.

He had this to say about the news: "Great news thank you Cheshire East. 3100 now sold, still some left."

Macclesfield lost their first ever competitive game last week - but remain without a loss in the league.

They were beaten by Blackpool divisional rivals Squire's Gate last weekend in the FA Cup.

A win against Congy could see The Silkmen go top of the North West Counties Football League Premier Division.

Aaron Dwyer will set to continue his scoring streak for the club.

Simply head to the Leasing.com Stadium reception on London road as soon as possible to fit your ticket.
