The home of a Macclesfield couple will turn into a mini-Santa's grotto of sorts, preparing and delivering shoeboxes to be sent to Ukrainian children this Christmas.

It will be the third Christmas that Jeanette and Craig Rice will be taking in donations from the community of shoeboxes full of Christmas gifts for Ukrainian kids.

The retired pair have hosted a Ukrainian woman in their home, and also delivered aid in person to Ukraine, so is a cause very close to their hearts.

The duo are also behind the good cause One Project Ukraine.

Jeanette had this to say about this year's shoebox appeal: "In December 2022, we were able to send over 650 shoeboxes and last year we were able to send over 1150.

"This year we're looking to beat 1150 and to be able to put more smiles on the children of Ukraine.

"We are donating Christmas shoeboxes for children of all ages that you can fill with all sorts of gifts, such as school supplies and cuddly toys.

"If you are struggling, over the last few years, we've not received as many for the teenage category.

"New socks, gloves and hats, sweets, chocolates and toiletries are ideal for the teenagers.

From clothes to sweet treats, fill the box with new goodies and make someone's Christmas. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

"We really want the boxes to be dropped off at our house because the shipments will leave from here every Friday night.

"The closing date will be December 13 and we're going to start shipping them over as soon as we receive them.

"Please contact me for the address of the drop-off point.

It is the third year in a row that the appeal has been held, so every year since the full-scale invasion and war began. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

"Thank you to the generous people of Macclesfield for their support."
