IT IS OFFICIAL. There will be a new restaurant in Macclesfield's historic Charles Roe House.

The £40,000 goal has just been met over the weekend, just as the campaign ended.

This means restaurateur Macclesfield couple Amy (32) and Rick Armstrong (40) will be working tirelessly in the coming weeks to prepare for opening.

315 backers from Macclesfield and beyond pledged £43,027.

The pair elapsed their goal by £3,027, with Maxonian's keen to be one of the first to secure a lunch or dinner table.

The money will provide a cashflow for the business, and in return backers will receive meals they have pre-booked with their pledge.

The Kickstarter campaign, attracted the endorsement of Macclesfield MP David Rutley, who complimented the pay in advance model as a way to kickstart the local business.

The Copper Room at Charles Roe House, is located on the corner of Chestergate.

It will bring 10 new jobs to our town.

We last spoke to Amy and Rick in April at the start of their campaign.

The Macclesfield married couple had this to say to Macclesfield Nub News following their crowdfunding success.

"Our heads are spinning right now," they said.

"Every one of you believed in the project and we couldn't have got here without you.

"We will keep you all updated over the coming days with where we are up to, opening dates, and booking all of our backers in.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you."

The modern European dining experience inside the 18th century building, will open later this year.

Their menu will include scallop and arancini starters.

Some of the mains will be fillet or sirloin steak, gnocchi, and spaghetti puttanesca.

Desserts include panna cotta, handmade apple pie, along with chocolate and strawberry ganache.

Macclesfield Nub News will visit the Charles Roe House eatery once it is open.

We wish Amy and Rick every success in their exciting new endeavour.
