Coronavirus: New postcode map reveals number of recorded deaths in Macclesfield and surrounding area

The death toll from the Coronavirus outbreak in Macclesfield and the surrounding areas - up to the middle of April – has been revealed to be at 27, in newly released data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Twenty people have sadly lost their lives to the devastating virus in Macclesfield town, with the areas of Weston, central Macclesfield and Macclesfield Bollinbrook recording the joint highest single totals at four deaths each.
An area named Macclesfield East and Hurdsfield in the figures, along with Macclesfield Tytherington have both suffered three deaths each.
Macclesfield Upton Priory and Greenside recorded two deaths with none in Macclesfield South and Lyme Green.
Bollington has recorded one death and an area that takes in Prestbury and Addlington has three Covid-19 related deaths.
The area that takes in Gawsworth and Macclesfield Forest has sadly had three deaths due to the virus.
The statistics listed are for deaths where Covid-19 was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor, between March 1 and April 17.
The UK has seen its confirmed cases pass the 170,000 mark – Thursday's figure being up a further 6,032 to 171,253. It has now overtaken the German and French totals and put the UK in fourth place in the 'case' league table.
