The leader of Cheshire East Council and a Sandbach town councillor has said there is much to look forward to in 2023.
He has pointed out that climate change and electric cars are high on the agenda and he has praised those residents who have supported food banks.
"It is easy to be gloomy, but there are positive things going on. Many people and institutions are taking action on climate change," said Cllr Sam Corcoran.

"Cheshire East Council has committed to being carbon neutral by 2025 and has set out a detailed Carbon Neutral Action Plan showing how this will be achieved and is on track to meet its ambitious target.
"There are more electric cars on the road, improving air quality. Many people are improving the insulation of their homes - reducing carbon emissions and saving money on energy bills.
"Local foodbanks have been well supported in the run up to Christmas, with people thinking of others even during a cost-of-living crisis."
On the downside he says though it has been a year with three Prime Ministers and COP27 failed to reach any significant global commitments on climate change.
Of the Prime Ministers, he said: "One stepped down after being caught out repeatedly lying and being fined for breaking lockdown rules that he had imposed, another crashed the UK economy and the third had also been fined for breaching lockdown rules at a party in Downing Street."
"I wish all Cheshire East residents a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year," he said.
