Cheshire East Council officials are set to appoint a new Director of Public Health, having had an interim appointment throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
Matt Tyrer has held the stop-gap role for a year, including the Covid-19 outbreak and initial recovery, having joined the council's public health team in 2017.
Mr Tyrer also has past experience with other councils, as well as Public Health England.
Council bosses are on the look-out for someone who can help address the borough "public health challenges including significant variations in resident's health experience".
In the job specification, the council says the successful candidate "should be able to demonstrate a robust understanding of public health principles, Local Government, NHS, and partnership working".
Past experience of working within a local authority's public health department is a must, as is having the ability to advocate for change effectively.
The council had scheduled a staffing committee meeting in order to interview candidates on Monday 14 September, but this has since been postponed.
