COVID-19 Vaccination Wraps Up At Macclesfield Hospital - Rousing Success
MISSION COMPLETE: A temporary vaccination station set-up at Macclesfield Hospital has met their goal.
From February, 21,000 doses were set to be administered to 10,000 of the most at-risk people in our town.
Just 11 weeks later, they have completed their purpose to vaccinate this vulnerable fifth of our town.
Vaccinations are still being administered on Congleton Road, but no more will be currently given from our town's Victoria Road hospital.
Chairman, Lynn McGill said, "To all our staff and volunteers who have been involved in the vaccination programme, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you, for an amazing job well done.
"The outstanding care shown for our own East Cheshire family and our local community has been tremendous and I am extremely proud of this fantastic achievement."
East Cheshire Trust had this to add on social media: "Please don't worry if you are yet to receive your vaccine, our #AlderleyPark mass vaccine centre is open daily!"
Maxonian's can also go to the Etihad Stadium in Manchester for their vaccine, if they are eligible.
The vaccine is currently being given to people aged 36 and over people or. who will turn 36 before 1 July 2021, having most recently being made available for them.
It is also still for people at high risk from COVID-19 (clinically extremely vulnerable), people who live or work in care homes.
People with a condition that puts them at higher risk (clinically vulnerable), or people with a learning disabilities can also become inoculated.
Those who are carers for those in high risk groups can also now get vaccinated.
The UK has now vaccinated over a third of the population.
Our country is leading the rest of Europe in vaccination rates.
