Former plant nursery could be developed for housing

The site of a former plant and flower nursery near Chelford could be developed for housing.
J&J Tod Ltd has applied to Cheshire East for permission in principle for up to nine homes on the site to the west of Grotto Lane at Over Peover.
A planning statement submitted by Jay Ashall Partnership on behalf of the applicant states: "The site is the site of J&J Tod Ltd, a former plant and flower nursery in operation originally from the 1940s supplying fruit and vegetables for the war, in the 1980s developing into a major wholesale distributor of plants, supplying florists, garden centres, designers etc in Cheshire before ceasing trading in 2007."
It says the site consists of previously developed land with several existing buildings and structures associated with the former use.
The current use of the site is predominantly storage and distribution.
There are two vehicular accesses to the land off Grotto Lane.
The application is for permission in principle – a two-stage mechanism for obtaining planning approval for housing development.
The first stage, which is being applied for now, is to establish whether the site is suitable in principle.
The scope at this first stage is limited to the location, land use and amount of development.
If PIP is granted, the site must receive a grant of technical details consent before development can proceed.
The application, number 25/2807/PIP, can be viewed on the planning portal on Cheshire East Council's website.
The last date for submitting comments is August 29.
