'Prolific offender' locked up after crime spree in Macclesfield

A prolific shoplifter has been jailed.
Shannon Duncan, of Mill Street in Macclesfield, has been sentenced to 44 weeks in prison and ordered to pay £1,000 in compensation.
It comes after the 27-year-old admitted to three counts of theft from a shop, two counts of theft from a vehicle, two counts of going equipped for theft and one count of possession of class B drugs (Cannabis).
The court heard how between Thursday (February 27) and Wednesday (April 9), Duncan committed a wave of offences across the Macclesfield area, stealing from shops and breaking into cars.
Most of her offences were low value items, however on April 9, she broke into a car on Paradise Street in Macclesfield from where she stole musical equipment worth more than £3,500.
Following the sentencing at Chester Crown Court on Friday (May 2), PCSO Melissa Mellor of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit said: "Duncan is a prolific offender, and I welcome the fact that she is now behind bars.
"While the majority of her offences were low value, the impact that her offending had on the people and businesses affected cannot be underestimated.
"I hope that her conviction will provide reassurance to the victims, and also the local community."
