Motorists have been warned of potential delays on the Silk Road.

A lane closure will be in place on the main road through Macclesfield starting from Thursday, October 2.

Lasting until Monday, October 6, the lane closure between the McDonalds roundabout and the roundabout for Bollington is to allow for various works to take place.

This includes the removal of 'offensive graffiti', repairs to the bridge and general inspection as well as sweeping, sign cleaning and gully cleansing.

While the Cheshire East Council website does not specify which graffiti will be removed, various anti-Keir Starmer messages have recently appeared on the Silk Road bridge including one that reads 'F**k Starmer'.
