Dementia specialist care provider Belong has appointed registered nurse Sue Goldsmith to its new operations manager role.

Sue will be responsible for quality improvement across Belong villages, including Belong Macclesfield on Kennedy Avenue, Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme and Belong Crewe.

She will also support the development of a range of services tailored to meet the changing needs and expectations of customers and their families.

Sue brings over thirty years of experience to the position, having worked in both frontline nursing and senior management roles.

Originally working as a mental health nurse on acute admissions wards, she moved into the adult social care sector where she was later appointed Head of Dementia and Head of Care Improvement at Four Seasons Health Care.

A trained dementia care mapper, Sue was key to implementing the group's dementia care models. Most recently, she worked as the Director of Care Quality and Dementia for a care coaching consultancy.

Her work in the field of dementia has been widely recognised across the industry and she has been published in a range of academic papers, while she shared her experiences as a contributing author of an Amazon top-selling book focused on person-centred dementia care.

Sue said: "I have always been a great advocate of the values and household model of care that Belong champions and so I'm incredibly honoured and excited to be taking on this new role.
