A self-professed 'Doctor of Happiness' will be premiering a rousing new talk in Macclesfield.

Dr Andy Cope, will debut his brand new keynote at Cheshire Business School less than two weeks before Christmas.

The talk on Quantum Thinking will be attended by business leaders, managers, students and other professionals from across the north of England.

With the relentless nature of today's world people can forget how amazing they are, according to the Dr of Happiness.

"That's why I'm doing this talk at Cheshire Business School, one that no one else has so far dared to book," he explained.

"Quantum thinking is rethinking how you think, tuning yourself back into being your best on a more regular basis. It will be a bit weird in its approach, but also very good.

"It's about self-remembering as opposed to personal or self development and counteracts traditional business coaching and training.

"Most training is additive – it gives you more things to remember and do. Quantum Thinking is subtractive. As you don't need more stuff on your mind, you need less," he adds.

Cheshire Business School is a membership organisation that runs tailored seminars and 'short-sharp inspirational' Mindful Monday sessions for all sized businesses.

Its mission is levelling up opportunities to access world class speakers in the north.

The Dr of Happiness' talk will be held at De Vere Cranage Estate on Monday, December 12 from 8.30am to 10.30am.

"A lot of keynote speakers get flown into the UK and they'll do a gig in London or Oxford," said Dr Cope.

"One of the reasons I'm so invested in Cheshire Business School is my interest in the levelling up agenda.

"Cheshire Business School is attracting world class speakers to the north west at an affordable rate.

"And where the levelling up really is for me is young people. Why can't we have world class speakers speaking to 16 to 19 year olds?

"Everyone should have access, especially young people. You shouldn't have to wait until you are a chief executive to get access. This is where the founder Rachel Kay, who is also CEO of Macclesfield College, is providing an extra edge with something fresh and invigorating that can make a difference."

On wellbeing and people's happiness Dr Cope says: "My view is everybody already is amazing but you might have forgotten or the world might have made you forget.

"I also think everybody is a superhero but too many people are pretending to be normal.

"I recently looked at the academic version of burnout for instance which essentially happens when you've cared about too much for too long.

"People are knackered, especially those in front end jobs like the NHS or teaching, and wellbeing and happiness is in really short supply.

"For 15 years now I've been preaching how to keep yourself in best self-mode, which is more important now than it was.

"But I've seen people getting steadily worse with mental health. There were 81 million prescriptions written in England last year for antidepressants.

"And I see it getting worse, not better. So, rather than fixing people, stopping them from breaking in the first place would be really cool work.

"It's kind of like, when the world's doing its worst you might bend, but you don't have to break."
