Staff from our local NHS will lace up their running shoes to take on Great Manchester 10K Run for a Macclesfield-based charity.

East Cheshire NHS Trust staff will be running through the streets of Manchester in May as they take on the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run.

They will fundraise for East Cheshire NHS Charity - who are based in Macclesfield Hospital. As of publication, £140 has been fundraised so far, with donations via this link.

The big event takes place on Sunday May 26, with both clinical and corporate staff involved in the 10K race including Director of Nursing and Quality, Kate Daly-Brown and Medical Director, John Hunter, with all monies raised going towards their local NHS charity.

Kate has over 25 years experience as a registered nurse and was appointed Director of Nursing Quality in July 2021. Her next big challenge is running 10K (6.21 miles) for East Cheshire NHS Charity.

East Cheshire NHS Charity's mission is to make a visible difference as they raise funds for local NHS services at Macclesfield District General Hospital, Knutsford Community Hospital, Congleton War Memorial Hospital and a range of community services.

Thousands of people will be taking part in the course which runs through the streets of Manchester.

Starting and finishing in the city centre, the 6.21-mile course will be packed with live music, charity cheering points, boost zones and incredible support from thousands of local spectators.

Specialist Paediatric Dietitian, Rowena Moores, who has worked for the NHS since 2021 said: "It's such a privilege to be part of a great team running for our trust. I can't wait for the day to feel the atmosphere Manchester is so well known for bringing."
