Environment Agency investigating after River Dean turned bright blue

The River Dean has been turned blue.

Walkers in Bollington were left stunned today (May 1) after noticing the unusual shade of the River Dean.

The Environment Agency are aware and officers are now working to resolve the situation.

A spokesperson for the public body said: "Officers are currently on site in Bollington investigating reports of pollution in the River Dean.

"We are actively working to trace the source and to limit any environmental harm.

 "Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact us.

"Please continue reporting pollution incidents to our 24-hour incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60."
