A family are raising money in memory of a late loved one.

Stuart and Alan Bailey from Trackside Studios are gearing up to host Hospice Rocks, a charity concert to raise money for East Cheshire Hospice.

Co-owner Stuart, 53, says they decided to set up the event in honour of his mum, Maurine, who passed away earlier this year, age 74.

"We wanted to do it in honour of my mum and to raise as much money as possible for the hospice," he said.

"As a family we are doing okay, putting on this event has given us something to focus on.

"Music has always been a great outlet."

Maurine was a 'fit and healthy' person before being diagnosed with cancer last year.

Despite being given the all clear just before Christmas, the cancer returned and Maurine passed away in March 2025.

Stuart says it was her final wish to be treated at the hospital, having seen the support her sister received there.

He said: "While we were there we discovered that the hospice needs over £9,000 a day to run and they only got 20% of that from the government, the rest is donations.

"With the trade me and my dad are in we decided we needed to do something."

Stuart continued: "We were massively impressed by the hospice,

"It's a magical place, it really is.

"The care and attention they give is unbelievable."

Trackside Studios, a rehearsal space and music school, has been going for 33 years, starting when Stuart's dad Alan learnt to play the bass after injuring his leg.

After 12 years at a unit on Crompton Road they moved to their current home at Brookside Mill on Elizabeth Street.

All of the bands taking part in Hospice Rocks at Cinemac are regulars at the rehearsal studio, including headliner The Virginmarys.

They are joined on the bill by Snowdrop, Airheart, Sonic Jukebox and 3 P Sweet.

Stuart said: "I'm very excited!

"All the bands knew my mum so wanted to be a part of it.

"Jordan Wilson from Cinemac has been an absolute angel too, he's given us the venue for nothing and is handling all of the ticket sales."

Alongside the ticket sales, money will be raised through a t-shirt designed by The Virginmarys' drummer and tattoos at Grindhouse Tattoo Productions on Church Street.

In total, Stuart is hoping to raise around £10,000 for East Cheshire Hospice.

Hospice Rocks takes place on Saturday, September 20 - two days before what would have been Maurine's 75th birthday.

Tickets, which are expected to sellout, can be purchased online here.
