By Alex Greensmith 15th May 2023

Creativity continues to flourish in Macclesfield, as a British film production company have moved into our town.

North of Watford Films (NoW Films), who were already based in the north west, will now hope to champion the arts in our town to the next level.

The award-winning, BAFTA nominated film and TV production company have produced nine feature films since they were established in 2010.

The Macclesfield business have worked with stars like Juno Temple, Timothy Spall and the late Pete Postlethwaite.

The Macclesfield based company make and develop all their films in or around the North of England.

Recent films released include the Mod-inspired Paul Weller-soundtracked flick The Pebble and the Boy and last year's rom-com Book of Love.

They have a number of films in development including from writers such as Emmy winning David Quantick and Sarah Quintrell.

Mike Knowles, Director of NoW Films said: "We are incredibly excited to be based in Macclesfield and are committed to promoting the North. We plan to shoot at least two features per year in the region."

As well as making feature films NoW also undertake commercial filming and are looking to produce work for local businesses in the area.

Andy Paton, Director said, "We have previously produced music videos for the bands Elbow and Sleaford Mods.

"We've also done documentary work featuring the likes of Marcus Rashford for AppleTV and Showtime. If you are interested in talking to us about this, it would be great to meet you in our new premises."

The company will also soon be growing a list of people to appear as extras with both speaking and none speaking parts. So if you're from Macclesfield and interested, why not give NoW a bell now?
