Fifth anniversary for Macclesfield pumpkin farm - which will be open during October half-term
It is just a few days to go until Halloween.
And a Macclesfield pumpkin patch and tourist attraction is proving popular, as they hope to run out of pumpkins.
Libby's Patch, of Shallow Road in Gawsworth, is celebrating five years since they first opened their pre-Halloween pumpkin picking experience.
The seasonal day out is affordable, family-friendly fun, where you are supporting a family business.
Farmer and owner Daniel Thornicroft, who opens his farm during seasonal events under the name Libby's Patch, spoke with Macclesfield Nub News.
"Libby's Patch is a place where we hold family seasonal events", said Daniel.
"We used the farm to do different activities like sunflower picking, strawberry picking and Christmas tree picking at the right time of year. And currently, we are doing pumpkin picking.
"To come, simply book tickets via our website, click on the pumpkin picking link and you can see all the available timeslots for the rest of the season.
'It is £5 per car, that includes the car and everybody in it. Then come and have fun, and pay for your pumpkin by size.
"We are dog friendly too, just bring a lead. We are open every weekend during October, and hope to release tickets for half-term w/c 21st, with slots from 10am to 4pm.
"New this year, we have more varities of pumpkins, with 26 in total this year. My favourite is a light pink squash, which comes from France. But grown here, at Libby's Patch."
As well as choosing your own pumpkins, you can enjoy a selection of seasonal refreshments on the farm.
This ranges from pizza fired in front of your own eyes, to giant marshmallows which you can toast by a campfire.
"Also new this year, we have our campfire marshmallows, which you can enjoy in our large seating area," added Dan.
"It is not just about picking pumpkins, people like to stick around and enjoy themselves.
"We have put a new cover on this year to make it more light, airy and spacious. We have added more tables in there as well, it is a great place to sit when raining, and catch up with the family as well.
"I would like to say thank you to all our customers old and new, who have supported us over the years
"Especially this year, as it has been one of the toughest growing seasons we have ever had.
"A few times this year we did not think we would be able to open, but seeing the field full of pumpkins and the car park full of happy families, means the world to us.
"Thank you again for supporting us."
But even if all of the pumpkins do not get flogged, it is not all bad news.
As any waste pumpkins will either be fed to animals, or used for preserves created by Macclesfield's Fruits of the Forage.
Daniel also sells honey from the farm, which will go well the pumpkin, should you wish to cook with it.
As well as weekends, you will also be able to visit during the October Half-Term, with slots about to open.
So make sure you keep an eye out on the Libby's Patch website.
