Macclesfield: Tytherington headteacher heads down to Downing Street
Both Macclesfield Nub News and a Macclesfield headteacher visited Westminster last week, unfortunately, not on the same day.
And it is the latter we are going to talk about today, as a Macclesfield secondary school headteacher has visited 10 Downing Street.
Tytherington School headteacher Manny Botwe has just had a particularly busy and interesting week.
On Wednesday, Mr Botwe was invited to Number 10 Downing Street to attend a reception hosted by the Prime Minister.
This was followed by the headteacher chairing a Q&A session with Sir Martyn Oliver who is His Majesty's Chief Ofsted Inspector.
Sir Keir Starmer was speaking at a reception to celebrate Black History Month.
Mr Botwe said: "I was delighted to be invited to Downing Street. It was great to have the opportunity to talk about all of the great things that are happening in our schools as well as shine a light on the things we need government to do in order to improve the system."
The visit took place just days after Mr Botwe also received national attention as the new President of the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL).
And it was in that capacity, that his second high profile appearance in the capital was for.
"Later on in the week, with my ASCL President hat on, I chaired a Q&A session with Ofsted's Chief Inspector.
"The purpose of the session was to provide ASCL Council members the opportunity to discuss future of inspection in this country.
"I was honoured to have been involved in both events".
The school currently has 1425 pupils.
