Former breast cancer patient nominated for award after raising nearly £60,000 for hospital
A former patient who has raised thousands of pounds for the East Cheshire NHS Trust Charity has been nominated for a Community Champion Award.
Congleton resident Gena Moors has been named as a finalist in the Creme de la Creme Cheshire Business Awards after raising £59,439.31 for the Breast Care Unit at Macclesfield Hospital.
Her fundraising started in 2023 with the creation of 'Splash of Pink', which was established as a thank you for the care she received at the hospital following the diagnosis of breast cancer in 2020.
Gena has gone on to organise two Splash of Pink balls, along with various fundraisers to reach this amazing milestone.
Gena said: "Raising awareness and funds for the Breast Care Unit at Macclesfield Hospital has been an incredibly rewarding journey and the support and generosity from everyone involved in 'Splash of Pink' has been overwhelming.
"This cause has been my way of giving back and ensuring that others receive the same exceptional care that I did.
"A huge thank you to everyone who has donated and supported this cause, the ultrasound machine we want to buy with this money will help save lives."
The awards ceremony takes place on Friday, November 7, at Cranage Hall.
Voting, which can be done online here, closes on Friday, October 3.
