East Cheshire Hospice's Christmas tree collection has been postponed.

The recent snowy weather has forced the charity to delay its annual fundraising event.

It had been scheduled for this weekend but has now been pushed back a week.

A spokesperson for the hospice said: "Due to the forecast of poor weather and freezing temperatures, we've made the difficult decision to postpone our Christmas Tree Collection to January 18 and 19.

"The safety of our incredible volunteers is our top priority.

"Many will be driving vans across East Cheshire to collect trees, and we want to ensure they can do so safely in better weather conditions.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding.

"All trees will still be collected, recycled sustainably, and help raise vital funds for the hospice."

In positive news, this means registration will remain open until Friday afternoon, January 10.

You can register your tree for collection at www.echtrees.org.uk.
