Funeral details and tribute to 13th generation retailer of Macclesfield family business

The funeral details for the late Charles Camm Hadfield have been revealed.

The Maxonian, who ran the historic retail shop Hadfield in Macclesfield, passed away late last month.

Mr Hadfield (30/04/1951 - 23/11/2023), will have a funeral service later this week.

His obituary, for which his family which to share, reads as follows:

"Charles Camm Hadfield - peacefully at rest on Thursday 23rd November 2023 at Macclesfield Hospital, surrounded by his loving and devoted famity, after a long illness fought with great courage, dignity and bravery. Charles aged 72 years, was the former proprietor of the drysalter and apothecary Hadfields, in Macclesfield.

"The business prospered and was passed from father to son through 13 generations until Charles retired in 2003.

"A beloved husband of Susan, Father of Helen and Charlie, Father-in-Law of Andrew, and loved and cherished Bonpa of Teddy and Ottilie, Charles will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all his closest family and many friends.

"The funeral service is to be held at Macclesfield Crematorium on Wednesday 13th December at 2.45pm.

"Family flowers only with donations to The Christie. with thanks to Professor Nick Slevin for pioneering and lifesaving oncology treatment on Charles in 2009, which extended his life by 14 years."

The funeral will be conducted by Co-op Funeralcare, of 25 High Street, Macclesfield, SK118BR. (01625 422583)
