Great News: Recent Data Suggests There Could Be Zero COVID-19 cases in Macclesfield

Recent data suggests there could be zero COVID-19 cases in Macclesfield.

Just published GOV.UK data suggests there were less than three new coronavirus cases in Macclesfield Central from April 30 to May 6 2021.

A colour-coded map of our area leaves Central Macclesfield blank, which implies there were fewer than three cases in town.

For smaller areas with fewer than three cases, the government opts to not show data. This is to protect infected individuals' identities. This has always been the case for statistics, not just COVID-19.

This could mean there were actually zero cases in Macclesfield for date ending May 6. Not one.

It could also mean there were one or two cases of a positive COVID-19 test.

Elsewhere in our area, there were fewer than cases in Bollington and Prestbury.

However, the Gawsworth and Macclesfield Forest area, which includes Higher Hurdsfield, and Rainow had three confirmed confirmed cases for the same time period.

Macclesfield South and Lyme Green had fewer than three cases, as did Macclesfield Weston. Prestbury and Adlington also had less than a trio of cases.

Across Cheshire, there are no areas with cases in the double figures for the end of the first week in May.

There are just seven areas in the UK with triple figures of COVID-19 cases in that same time period.

Bolton currently has the most cases in our country, with 384 positive tests to May 6.

Kirklees came in second with 243. Derry City and Strabane were third with 131 cases.

Barnsley had 136. Blackburn with Darwen, which borders on Bolton, had 127. Bedford had 106.

Lockdown restrictions are set to ease further with the opening of Macclesfield's pubs and eateries for indoor seating. We recently reported on the upcoming return of Macclesfield's museums - which will be a little bit longer than first thought.
