HMP Styal drug dealer convicted alongside Macclesfield resident
A man jailed for supplying class A drugs in Macclesfield's nearest prison will be robustly monitored when he leaves prison.
Anton Daniels was handed a Serious Crime Prevention Order (SCPO) following a hearing at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday 13 October.
The 37-year-old, of Brooklands Road in Manchester, is currently serving a 10 year prison sentence at HMP Styal in Wilmslow.
He was convicted alongside Tania Dewar, of Somerset Close in Macclesfield, who is serving a seven year and six month sentence.
The pair had known each other for a number of years with Dewar alleged to have been supplying drugs for Daniels.
When Dewar was remanded in custody at HMP Styal in connection with a separate case Daniels used her as a way to supply crack cocaine and heroin to inmates.
Upon Daniels release the SCPO will be imposed for three years from leaving prison.
The SCPO restricts him from having more than one mobile phone that cannot be an encrypted device.
Daniels is not allowed to have more than £1,000 in his possession and he must not purchase or own a safety deposit box.
He is also required to tell the police where he is living, including any business premises which he may own or occupy and if he uses or is in possession of a vehicle.
Detective Sergeant Angela Coppock, from Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, said: "Daniels was an established drug dealer responsible for supplying crack cocaine and heroin into a prison and also in the Macclesfield area.
"Those involved in serious and organised crime often believe upon leaving prison they can return to a criminal and lavish lifestyle.
"However we can obtain orders like this that carry on when the prison sentence has been served.
"He will now be subjected to a Serious Crime Prevention Order that will enable him to be robustly monitored by the police to help in deterring him from falling back into organised criminality."
Elsewhere in local crime, Police Crime Commissioner John Dwyer has pledged to provide better protection for Macclesfield victims.
