Independent women's clothing store announces closure amid 'dramatically' declining town footfall
An independent women's clothing store is closing down.
The Wardrobe on Queen Victoria Street has announced it will shut for good in February.
This decision comes amid 'dramatically' declining footfall in the town centre.
Sisters Roya and Auzita Kasiri, who own the business, said: "We just feel that the footfall in Macclesfield is dramatically down and with further shops closing we feel it will drop further.
"We have spoken to many customers who just don't come into town as frequently as they used to as there is less and less now in the town centre.
"The last thing we wanted to do was close but we feel like there is no other option, even though we love our shop."
They continued: "We would just like to say the biggest thank you from the bottom of our hearts, all of our amazing customers over the last 13 years, many of which have become good friends.
"We will miss you all."
While no official last day has been announced, the sisters have stated that the shop will close for good at some point in February.
Until then, a sale is taking place to sell off all remaining stock.
The sisters have also floated the idea of going online, setting up a poll on the store's Facebook page.
Of the 355 votes cast, 97 per cent were in favour of The Wardrobe going online.
