An investigation has taken place following 'unlawful' works at Macclesfield Police Station.
Cheshire East Council has completed an investigation into work carried out on three trees in the rear car park of the Brunswick Street station.
It is understood the works were being undertaken by an external contractor, who did not have permission to do so.
A spokesperson for Cheshire East Council said: "Council officers investigated works being carried out to three trees in the rear car park in September.
"Works initially ceased while discussions were held with contractors and the Police Commissioner, to understand the reason for the works without the required notice being submitted to Cheshire East Council.
"Following further consideration, it has been determined that no further action is to be taken."
A Cheshire Police spokesperson added: "We are aware of the issue around the trees at Macclesfield Police Station, which related to work undertaken by an external contractor.
"Cheshire East Council have engaged with the contractor who continued to be open and honest about the situation in subsequent conversions to try and resolve the matter.
"Following the incident additional measures have been put in place by the contractor to ensure this does not happen again."
