JD Sports refuse to comment on potential closure of Macclesfield store
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 9th Feb 2026
The future of Macclesfield's JD Sports is up in the air.
43 Mill Street, currently home to the multinational sportswear retailer, has hit the market.
Retail property consultants, Ockleston Bailey, are advertising the unit as available to let for £39,500.
However, there is the potential for a sale with 'full vacant possession' - meaning the property must be completely empty and ready for new occupants.
The listing reads: "The property is to be made available by way of a new effective full repairing and insuring lease for a term to be agreed, subject to periodic upward only rent reviews at a commencing rental of £39,500 per annum exclusive.
"Alternatively, our client will consider a freehold sale with full vacant possession upon completion and offers in excess of £350,000."
JD Sports were approached for comment and asked if the Macclesfield branch would be closing.
However, the company refused to comment on the matter.
