Jeweller leaves the high street after nearly five decades as business moves online

A jewellery shop has left Macclesfield's high street after nearly five decades.
Cheshire Diamonds' store on Mill Street has closed for good.
It marks the start of a new era for the business, which is moving online as owner Peter Clayton looks forward to enjoying semi-retirement.
He said: "After 45 years making jewellery on the high street I have decided to retire from it and go online.
"It will still be business as usual, but on my terms as I'm at an age where I want to enjoy life but also continue with my beloved jewellery making.
"Thank you to all my clients and the people who have supported my business for years past."

Peter was just 15 when he started out in the jewellery industry and in 1980, at age 20, he set set up Cheshire Diamonds.
He closed up shop on Mill Street for the final time on Saturday, March 29.
Cheshire Diamonds will be closed until April 7 to allow for the transition.
Once up and running, Peter will be based at his recently constructed private workshop.
While he won't be receiving visitors, he will still be available over the phone or online video calls.

Peter can be contacted on 07776 200036 or by emailing [email protected].
