People in Macclesfield in their early 60s who are set to be called for their Covid-19 jabs are being asked by health chiefs to request appointments at a local vaccination centre.

These venues include Andrew's Pharmacy vaccination hub in Kennedy Avenue as well as centres at Alderley Edge and Chester.

Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has announced residents aged 60 to 64 are due to receive a letter in the next week inviting them to come forward for their vaccinations across the county.

But because GP-led services are currently putting their resources into vaccinating the clinically vulnerable, it is preferred if the 60 plus group arranged their appointments at a local NHS vaccination centre via the national booking service.

This offers appointments from 9am-11pm, seven days a week at venues, including Chester Racecourse, Alderley Park Conference Centre and five pharmacies across Cheshire.

Cheshire CCG says people aged 65 or over who have already been invited for a Covid-19 vaccination are also being advised to use the national booking service to arrange their appointment because of the pressures on GP-led services.

They can also call 119.
