Macclesfield's biggest celebration of the 1980s - if not the countries' - took place this past weekend.

And here are the best photos from the Saturday August 6 bill of Rewind North.

The music festival, which first was held in Macclesfield in August 2014, has always been hosted at Capesthorne Hall.

The Siddington 18th century building is set in 100 acres of picturesque greenery, so there is plenty of room to host tens of acts and their thousands of fans.

And while Macclesfield Nub News' Editor was unable to attend due to illness, one talented Cheshire photographer has us covered.

West Cheshire resident Duncan Cowley - who also kindly covered the festival for Macclesfield Nub News last year - has taken some stunning snaps of the event.

He will also be sending in images of Sunday's proceedings, with acts including Belinda Carlisle, The Selecter, and The Human League.

But back to Saturday,

There were 12 acts on the main stage, from Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom to Pass the Dutchie performers musical youth.

Other highlights included Blancmange, Johnny Hates Jazz and Sugarhill Gang.

Scritti Politi and Heather Small were also on the bill.

The new wave, synth pop and pop music festival is one of Macclesfield's highest attended events, alongside Bluedot Festival.

Rewind is also held in Scotland and Oxfordshire, during the same weekend.

It was first held in August 2009, before coming to Macclesfield in 2014.

40,000 people are estimated to attend across the three sites.

The music festival has food stalls, fairground rides and vintage clothing stalls.

There is also a karaoke stage, fireworks and glamping.

Silent disco, comedy and pop-up pubs are also a regular feature.

Previous years have seen celebrities such as Rick Astley, Status Quo and Peter Hook perform in Macclesfield.

It wasn't just the artists that got dressed up, with many donning fancy dress to compliment the festival's colourful vibe. (Image - Duncan Cowley)

The night ended with ex-BBC Radio 1 DJ Gary Davies in the Pink Flamingo Club.
