July was a great month for Macc Nub, we hit 1400 subscribers to our FREE weekly newsletter, and reached 5100 followers on Facebook.
And then there were these ten stories, which racked up thousands of views.
Here are the most popular news articles in Macclesfield last month.
No. 10 Macclesfield MP calls for suspension of Danes Moss work amid 'very strong concerns'
Just making it into the top ten, David Rutley MP made a strong statement during the UK's hottest-ever days, asking for the works near the Danes Moss Nature Reserve to be suspended.
Councillors want to build 950 homes there, and work has already begun despite not full planning permission being approved.
Rutley wants the peat stored in the site to remain, as he fears releasing it would further contribute to climate change. Rutley mentioned and linked the site to climate change multiple times in his video release.

No 9 Property: Macclesfield mum launches local letting business
In ninth, we have a feelgood story about an experienced estate agent going to alone, to achieve a lifelong dream of hers.
Tytherington's Anne-Marie Smith started Anne-Marie Sales and Lettings earlier in the year, and Macclesfield Nub was the first news outlet to cover it, reporting on it almost two weeks before our main rivals.

No 8 Macclesfield: Council want to get rid of 'essential' vegetable stall in Sutton
In eighth place, we told the story of a business failing with retrospective planning permission, despite his stall being an essential community service.
Sutton General Stores of Tunnicliffe Road, launched their fruit and vegetable stall at the start of the pandemic.
A strong publicly-supported campaign and legal challenge is to follow.

No 7 Macclesfield: New family-ran plant shop opens on Chestergate
There's one less empty retail unit on Chestergate, as a plant shop opened in the former space of another plant shop!
George in the Jungle opened in mid-July, and is ran by an experienced florist and plant seller.
They sell affordable pots and other garden paraphernalia.

No 6 Macclesfield: Sutton councillor quits Conservatives shortly before Sunak and Javid resignations
Just before Boris Johnson's government fell apart, a Macclesfield Cheshire East Councillor resigned as a Tories.
Cllr Andrew Gregory joined the Independent Group, and could seek reelection in 2023 as part of that grouping, which are currently in co-administration with the Labour administration.
The Sutton representative wanted to resign earlier, as revealed in this popular and candid article.

No 4 Mother and son dogs abandoned in rural Macclesfield during heatwave
We try not to cover negative news, but we couldn't ignore the animal cruelty at play here.
On the hottest days of the year, two poorly puppers were abandoned in the Macclesfield countryside.
They will be rehomed in due course by RSPCA Macclesfield, but have clearly gone through some trauma.

No 3 New women's social group to launch in Macclesfield
On July 21, in the aftermath of the heatwave, Macclesfield Nub News were first to reveal a new social group for women that is about to launch in Macclesfield.
The successful start-up came from a brainwave on a kitchen table during lockdown, and has seem 200 ladies join a similar group in Congleton.

No 2 TV celebrity Chris Packham coming to Macclesfield for wildlife festival
An article by Charlie Coldwell, a Tytherington sixth former who was on work placement with us at the start ion the month, is second in the list.
This previewed the visit of BBC wildlife presenter Chris Packham, who appeared at Adlington Hall on the second to last weekend of the month.

Starting and ending this list with Mr Rutley, this story from the start of the month takes the top spot.
Following the turbulent resignation of Boris Johnson as Prime Minister, David Rutley MP spoke out on the dramatic ousting of his former boss in parliament.
Macclesfield's MP of 12 years shared six paragraphs on the saga that led to Boris Johnson leaving his post as PM and Conservative leader this autumn.
