One-year-old booming burger business is first bubble tea seller in Macclesfield
An American-style burger business is the only takeaway in Macclesfield to sell bubble tea.
Delivery-only eatery Cjaye's sells American diner food, as well as their famous bubble tea, a trendy Taiwanese sweet drink with popping pearls inside.
Founder and Chef Chelsea Love is celebrating her one year anniversary of the business this month.
She founded Cjaye's after having been made redundant from Manchester Airport, which gave her the opportunity to pursue her lifelong goal of owning a restaurant.
"I've always wanted to have my own restaurant, so when I got made redundant it was like a lightbulb moment really," said Chelsea.
"It was actually my dad who suggested for me to do it during the third lockdown."
Cjaye's prides themselves in being a local business from Macclesfield, with Chelsea and co-worker Angela both growing up and going to school locally.
"I couldn't imagine running it anywhere else really," she added.
"I'm very Macc proud."
Cjaye's Macclesfield sells a variety of food such as burgers, pizzas, loaded fries as well as bubble tea and milkshakes.
Inspired by Chelsea's time at the airport, a lot of the food is based geographically from all over the world, such as an Indian burger and their best-selling Louisiana burger.
"All the burgers are themed on places from around the world, so it's kind of me not really letting go of the airport," laughed Chelsea.
"There was nowhere else that was doing that sort of thing so I thought it would be a bit different."
The business attracts a variety of customers, including families with both adult and children's meal options.
"One of the big focuses for me when setting it up was to make it affordable for families and to make the kids meals really good," she explained.
"I love putting out good quality food at the best prices I can give. There's such a range of customers in Macclesfield."
Chelsea has high hopes for the future of the business in years to come, as she wants to complete her vision of a opening a 1950's diner in Macclesfield town centre.
"I want to stay in Macclesfield, hoping to try and get somewhere in the future, preferably with seating as well, not just a takeaway and expand it," she revealed.
"The original concept was a 50's diner. That's what I've got in my head."
The business is also proud of their fresh, handmade food and drink.
"So much of it is handmade specifically by Chelsea," said Jordan, a delivery driver for Cjaye's.
"The ice cream milkshakes are made fresh for the customer. For the pizzas, the dough is all stretched by Chelsea's loving hands.
"No shortcuts, no frozen stuff, no chef Mike [microwave]. It's all done right."
Their regularly rotating menu includes 11 pizzas, 19 burgers, and four desserts.
Cjaye's sells food through their own website, or Macclesfield Eats for their delivery-only service.
They also cater for specific dietary requirements, if you request in advance by messaging on social media.
