A DJ has released a new single which has had success on Spotify with over 1800 listens since it was released this month.
Macclesfield-born Alfie Dixon Hood (22) aka HOOD's new track is called Rastafari – VIP and it is an edit of one of his songs from last year's EP Welcome To The North.
The tune is a blend of jungle and breaks, and shows off Alfie's unique genre-combining sound.
This comes after his success earlier this year performing abroad in Amsterdam at Spring Break festival.
"I'm trying to merge multiple genres together, like breaks and jungle to try and make my own sound," Alfie said.
"Rastafari - VIP is purely a jungle and breaks tune. The EP came out last year, and then I did an edit which is the VIP version of the Rastafari tune.
"In terms of the title, jungle is heavily influenced by Jamaican culture, so that's kind of where it's come from, hence the Rastafari, and it was in the sample.
"I want to merge this jungle, techno, breaks all together to produce something that's kind of for everyone.
"I love the underground sound that drum and bass has at the minute, but I am trying to bring that into more of a mainstream light."
Alfie's love for music is rooted in his family with his sister Megan releasing her own music, some of which Alfie has remixed himself.
"Music has always been around," he explained.
"I've never really played anything, but my sisters have always played instruments growing up, so my dad had quite a lot of influence on that.
"I love Megan's music. She's great with how the whole band comes together to perform. It's something that's very different actually, that's not really around as much at the moment.
"I remixed two of hers, just to put my own spin on what she was working with.
"I've got another remix lined up of her latest tune Hanged Man, so I'm hoping to get that out in the summer.
"It's not quite finished yet but there will be a drum and bass version of that coming soon."
His inspiration to make music of his own stemmed from his time in college, where he was exposed to electronic music.
"It was in college that I really started getting into music," he recalled.
"I would go with my mates to quite a lot of hip-hop concerts and gigs and so from there I just started to get more into it and wanted to make my own stuff.
"When I moved to university the influence grew even more, being surrounded by clubs and like-minded people.
As well as success with his new record, Alfie has reached some huge achievements by being able to perform abroad.
"I got to play over in Amsterdam in April supporting a bigger artist for Spring Break Festival," he also said.
"It was really cool to get the opportunity to go abroad and play over there.
"As well as that, one of the tunes from my EP was played out at New Year's Eve 2022 by My Nu Leng at Warehouse Project in Manchester, so that was a massive occasion.
Alfie has big aspirations for his future as a musician following the success he has had so far.
"I want to produce a wider range of music for a bigger audience," he added.
"To tour the world hopefully is my end goal.
"The new tune has done well. I think what helped it was it got into a Hospital Records [South London record label] playlist recently.
"The reaction to it it's been great so far. I've seen it played out in clubs and hopefully I'll see more festival videos soon."
"I'll have the remix [of Megan's song] coming out then a couple more EPs."
He is also working on a project to go along with his dad's artwork.
"It will be a more atmospheric-based visual and audio experience combined," he concluded.
There is plenty to be excited about with HOOD to release plenty more music in the coming months.
You can listen to the new single on Spotify here, where it has over 1200 streams.
It has also been listened to over 600 times on " target="_blank">YouTube.
