A new plant shop is opening in Macclesfield to replace Flourish Macclesfield which closed in March this year.

Former Flourish Macclesfield customer Georgie Brown has set up the new shop George in the Jungle, along with her mum Jane.

It will open at 9am on July 15 (tomorrow) and aims to carry on the legacy of the previous business, but ran as an independent family business.

The shop is located at 74A Chestergate and will sell a variety of flowers and plants.

Georgie comes from a seasoned background with all things horticulture, so saw the shop as a great opportunity.

"I've worked previously in the industry," Georgie said.

"My background is as a florist and I love plants.

"The previous owner was a friend, so when he said it was going I thought it would be sad to see it go.

"It had been part of the community, hence me taking over and wanting to become part of the community myself."

Georgie in the Jungle aims to continue the success of previous shop Flourish Macclesfield, which closed down earlier this year.

"It's quite similar [to the old shop] in some ways," added Georgie.

"Obviously it's had a different décor and it will have my style on it but it's generally a similar sort of style.

"The people liked it, so I wanted to carry on what was happening."

The new shop will be family-run and aims to be close-knit in the Macclesfield community.

"My mum [Jane] lives locally in Whaley Bridge. She'll be here mostly and I'll be here as well," she continued.

"I have a little sister who is a florist as well so she'll be doing weekends. It's a family run business.

"I love everything [about Macclesfield]. The people are nice, I love all the different shops and it's quite quirky. I love the Treacle Market."

Plant-loving runs in the family, as Georgie's mum even runs at stall at Macclesfield's Treacle Market, where she sells bonsai trees.

The shop will be open from Tuesday to Saturday, as well as Treacle Sundays. Precise opening hours to be confirmed.

Georgie is planning on setting up a system for online orders soon, like the one for the previous shop.

"I'm hopefully going to set up the same thing [as the old shop had] but it's still in progress because it's all been so fast paced," she stated.

"I'm planning on doing online click and collect with the local delivery system.

"It's a nice place if you want to come and chat, and if you're a plant addict like I am it's a great place to come."
