Macclesfield band in appeal for new rehearsal space

By Alex Greensmith 25th Oct 2022

An emerging rock band from Macclesfield have appealed to building-owners, after they have lost their rehearsal space.

Alt-rock band Red Sky Dawn had just won over new fans with a powerful performance in Glossop.

But they have received the news that no longer have a place to rehearse in their home town - after the church where they've practised for the last year announced it was closing the building from next month.

The five-piece have members from Macclesfield and Bollington. The band also includes two siblings from South Park.

"Being in a new band is full of highs and lows," said the band Red Sky Dawn.

"It was a great room to practice in - and the church pastor, Tony, who let us in there, has been a great supporter of us.

"But we're out of there now and we have to find somewhere else. There's a possibility we'll have to rehearse in Wilmslow instead. But we're hoping somebody in Macclesfield can come forward and offer us some space."

"The barn looked amazing. It felt like it was in the middle of nowhere - it was actually in North Rode. And some afternoons, it would be really cold and wet and windy and now and again the sheep would come in - but it was exciting," added the band.

"I'm not sure how easy it will be to find somewhere else but we'll have to try to do it fairly quickly because there is now increasing interrest in the band."

The band moved to the church on St George's Street in Macclesfield last year, where they've written and rehearsed a live setlist of 16 original songs, all of which have been going down very well with audiences from the Wirral to Newcastle University.

Red Sky Dawn meet to play together and write at the Macclesfield Grade II Listed church once or twice a week. And would love to do the same for their new space.

The band's debut single What Were You Thinking? released in March, and can be listened to at the top of this article.

Those who are interested in hosting the band and owns land, should contact Red Sky Dawn on Facebook.

The band's next big local gig is during the Christmas light switch-on in Alderley Edge on Saturday November 19.

Red Sky Dawn have also currently been recording their next release at Trackside Studios, on Macclesfield's Elizabeth Street.
