A good cause in Sutton has received a huge amount of money from a local beer festival.

The 2023 Macclesfield Charity Beer Festival has raised £15,000 for the Macclesfield-based Rossendale Trust, which will put the funds towards a replacement headquarters and meeting hub for its day service.

The Rossendale Trust provides supported living care to adults with learning and some physical disabilities, giving them the opportunity to live in purpose built accommodation and thrive.

The Hollin Lane good cause is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.

The Rossendale Trust was founded in 1973.

Commenting on behalf of the Macclesfield Charity Beer Festival committee and Macclesfield Round Table, James Hogben said: "I'd like to say a huge thank you to our main sponsors SAS Daniels, The Cheshire Pub Co, Suburban Green and Spiral Print and everyone that attended or supported the 2023 Macclesfield Charity Beer Festival for helping to, once again, raise a fantastic amount of money to support an amazing Macclesfield-based charity.

"The committee has already started making plans for the 2024 Macclesfield Charity Beer Festival and we're welcoming submissions for our main charity beneficiary for next year's event.

"Any charities local to the Macclesfield area which are seeking funding for a capital project should contact us via email at [email protected], by the end of October, outlining the capital project the funds would be used to support."

The Macclesfield Charity Beer Festival is one of the region's longest-running charity events, having raised over £300,000 for local charities in its 26-year history.

And the event welcomes submissions from local charities interested in receiving funds from next year's Festival.
