A Macclesfield youth wellness charity has expanded the geographic area of the services they cover.

Following their strong achievements in supporting young people in Macclesfield, Just Drop In (JDI) has expanded its services to provide accessible community facilities in Poynton.

David Rutley, MP for both towns, recently met with JDI's Ann Wright, Chief Executive to discuss this important expansion and the services on offer.

Working alongside Poynton High School, Poynton Town Council and Sharon Duke, the Council's Communities Co-ordinator, JDI is now able to provide a variety of support in two locations throughout the week; Poynton High School on Mondays and Wednesday and also on Thursdays during the evening at the Civil Hall.

To access services, individuals must be between 12 and 25 and live within the north of Cheshire. JDI offers a number of one to one or group sessions focusing on improving overall mental health, through counselling, well-being services and support for parents and carers. From mentoring to life-skills, to financial support, there are a number of trained counsellors on hand.

As part of the Bollington, Disley and Poynton (BDP) community health sub-group, JDI will be involved in a summer road show. As part of a multi-agency stall, they will be visiting numerous fairs and shows over the summer period, from the Disley to Bollington and Poynton, a range of services will be on offer, from health advice to educational games for both children and parents.

JDI currently employs 13 members of staff, works with 14 contractors and is supported by over 60 volunteers. The charity is funded by private donations and funds raised by companies such as the Co-op.

To ensure the continuation of the vital work JDI provides and as many young people are supported as possible, the group is always looking for trained counsellors with youth experience to get involved. More information and contact details can be found using the following link.

Speaking after the meeting David said "Just Drop In have been providing crucial services to young people in Macclesfield for a number of years and I am pleased to see their vital work expanding into Poynton. Ann and her excellent team are dedicated to supporting as many young people as possible on a variety of important matters. I hope any local trained counsellors will consider becoming involved to enable these services to grow yet further and continue to flourish."
