The shortlists for the 2022 Agent Achievement Awards have been unveiled, with one Macclesfield travel agency in the running for one of the trade's top honours.

Macclesfield's Henbury Travel has been shortlisted for 'Best Small Travel Agency' in the Northwest.

"I am delighted that my company has been selected as a finalist from a region which has a very high calibre of independent travel agents, said Richard Slater, Managing Director.

Slater who is celebrating 36 years in the travel industry this week, emphasised that this is a team award, and being shortlisted is because of the quality of service offered to our clients.

We'll find out if they've won in five weeks time.

This is in addition to, the combined experience of 96 years travel agency experience he and his team have. 

Richard is currently the Northwest Chair of ABTA, the travel trade association, and travel expert go to for BBC North West Tonight & Radio Manchester.

He has also appeared on Channel 4 News in recent times, as well as Macclesfield Nub News.

This year's AAAs will return to their traditional date in July, having been postponed in 2020 and delayed to September 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The industry's biggest celebration of agents will take place at London's Westminster Park Plaza Hotel on July 14. So we don't have long to find out if the Macclesfield travel agency wins!

The shortlists include agencies nominated by more than 100 suppliers, ranging from tour operators and cruise lines to airlines, tourist boards and ancillary companies.

"The AAAs are the pinnacle of achievement for travel agencies and agents across the UK & Ireland," said Lucy Huxley, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly Group.

The award ceremony celebrates their 25th anniversary this year.
