A Macclesfield pub could start showing classic blockbusters.

The Rising Sun, of 245 Congleton Road, could be showing films soon.

That's because the brewer which owns the pub has applied to Cheshire East Council for a licence to show flicks.

The pub, which particularly serves Congleton Road residents and those who live in Gawsworth, is a Greene King pub.

The provision of films would be another sling in the pub's bow, which already is dog-friendly and has a pleasant beer garden. (Image - Google)

A spokesperson for The Rising Sun said: "We've applied for a change in licence so we can start screening movies for the local community. If the licence changes are approved, we plan to host themed screenings for children in the local community during the day based on their favourite films and characters."

"We also hope to host classic film nights when the nights draw in for movie enthusiasts too!"

Representations from the public can by made until July 31. (More info on that HERE).

What films would you like to see be screened at your local pub?
