A Macclesfield venue has taken the unconventional step to advertise themselves by leasing an empty shop in our town.

Popworld Macclesfield, located inside The SIlkworks on Pickford Street, have decided to lease a unit in Macclesfield town centre to promote their nightclub.

The unit they have leased for promotional purposes is just around the corner from the late night entertainment venue, being where The Carphone Warehouse used to be on 17 Mill Street.

Terry Bruce, General Manager of Popworld Macclesfield, revealed why they have decided to take out the ad.

"Because of the difficult trading position in leisure at the moment due to the cost-of-living crisis, we have found that the late-night sector has suffered significantly as a direct result, with this in mind Stonegate [Group] have agreed with myself to help manage this with a reduced-price offer across both the admission fee and bar, making it more affordable to our local customers," he said.

"With this in mind we have put together significant loyalty membership offers enabling our customers to continue to enjoy the leisure facilities we offer at a price they can afford.

"This has also been replicated with retail bar discounts on every session through the entire night, not just at certain times, enabling our customers to enjoy a discount throughout the entire night rather than being squeezed into a certain time frames.

"With all the above in mind, a discussion was had on the best way to communicate this to our customers, but not only this but how we could also help our fellow leisure partners in this sector, suffering just the same as us.

"The plan was put together with the senior management team in the Stonegate Group that we would secure a short-term lease in the town centre to assure our customers that we are here load and proud and ready to serve.

"We have put together a strong entertainment package for December as well as a brand-new Birthday Loyalty package to help customer celebrate their party in style at a vastly reduced price never been done before in the Stonegate group.

"These new and exciting offers are completely new for the Stonegate Group and it is hoped that the success could be replicated across some of the estate also suffering from similar plights as Macclesfield.

"The initial lease [for 17 Mill Street] has been secure for a minimum of 3 months and is purely for promotional purposes, that being said the Stonegate Group has been working hard to generate much need funds for The Motor Neurone Disease Association and already securing several thousands of pounds through dozens of charity events held across the group, with this in mind we felt we also needed to show our support, so also have agreed to collect for this charity offering a cute rubber duck as a thank you to our friends and supporters.

"I must say the initial response towards this has been over whelming and truly heart-warming, it never ceases to amaze me the truly generous nature of the Macclesfield community who have donated without question to such a deserved cause.

"We have agreed further promotional support with dancers and street performers over the coming months help us raise awareness and communicate our fantastic new offers."

Rubber ducks and charity buckets were given out at the Mill Street promotional space on Tuesday November 15.

The future of 17 Mill Street is uncertain by next spring, but it is nice to see an empty unit be filled in even for just three months.
