It is the second birthday for a Macclesfield mother and baby fitness group.

Sweaty Mama Macclesfield and Wilmslow was started in November 2020. It is a social group that promotes healthy exercises for mum and baby.

Lifelong Macclesfield resident Aimee Croke explained how her venture came about.

"Wednesday 16 November is our two-year anniversary", she said.

"The business started as I was on furlough during COVID, as I worked at Manchester Airport.

"I was pregnant with my son Axel at the time and thought I don't want to go back to that retrace.

"I saw the advert for a Sweaty Mama franchise on Facebook and here I am now.

"I thought it was the best idea ever. At the time there was nothing like this, but since we have seen similar classes pop up like Strong Mama Boxercise.

Aimee grew up on the Weston and lives on that side of town. The mum-of-three has just sold the franchise to another new Macclesfield mum, but she will continue to deliver classes.

"If you wanted to go to the gym, you had to get someone to watch the children. But with this, there is no need for that as it incorporates exercises for mother and child together.

"The exercises are designed to not rush yourself back in after having your little one, taking into account of any [postnatal] health issues you may have.

"The class has us moving to four pop tracks on our feet. You can use baby carriers or just cuddle them. The vibe is really chilled, and you do what works for you.

"We also have two songs on the floor where it is more interactive with the little ones, whether it is on your chest, holding hands at the site of you, it is all lovely stuff.

"Or if the kids are a little older like Axel, they can still come, but go off and play with their little mates. It works right up to pre-school."

Aimee will now sell the business to her friend Lauren Knight, but Aimee will still continue to lead one class per week.

As well as general fitness, the classes are recommended to mums who may have a post-pregnancy separation of their abs or had a Caesarean section.

In the days following their second-year anniversary, there will be a Black Friday offer of cheap classes for those mums looking to go but currently pinching the pennies.

The class also welcomes expecting mums.

"We can fit about 22 people per class, and each class lasts an hour," added Aimee.

"We do evening bootcamps as well which is ladies only no kids, after you've tucked them in bed.

"Lots of gyms have their evening classes finish before many mums have got their children asleep. So we host these at 7 and 8:30pm in Macclesfield and Poynton.

"Everyone who comes here is so friendly. We have such a nice community. We often go for lunches after the classes and see each other outside of them. Thank you to everyone for their support."
