Macclesfield FC boss departs club for position at Football League side

Alex Bruce departed The Silkmen on Wednesday 21 February, leaving the Northern Premier League side sitting in fifth place (Macclesfield Nub News).

Macclesfield FC's first-team manager has officially left the club with immediate effect, taking up a coaching position at a Football League side.

Alex Bruce departed The Silkmen on Wednesday 21 February, leaving the Northern Premier League side sitting in fifth place.

It has yet to be confirmed where the former Hull City player is headed, with strong rumours linking him with a role at Salford City in League Two.

Alex Bruce played for Hull City between 2012 and 2017 (Wiki Commons).

A Macclesfield FC statement read: "Macclesfield FC can confirm Alex Bruce has departed his role as first team manager to take up a role at an EFL side.

"Whilst being disappointed that Alex has decided to leave the Club at this stage of the season, we wish him well in his future career.

"A further statement will be communicated regarding our new coaching team in due course."

Macclesfield currently sit in the Northern Premier League playoff places, 18 points behind leaders Radcliffe.
